The annual ‘The Edge Sports’ Sandycove Island Challenge open water swim will take
place on the 18th September 2010 at 4pm. Online entry to the event will open in early

What is the ‘The Edge Sports’ Sandycove Island Challenge
The ‘The Edge Sports’ Sandycove Island Challenge Swim, now in it’s 14th year is a
1,800m open water swim around Sandycove Island , Kinsale, Co. Cork. The swim
developed from its early days of circa. 50 swimmers to now having in excess of 270
participants. The swim is open to both wet suit and non suited competent open water
swimmers who compete for age group prizes (e.g. under 20, 20 – 24, 25 – 29, etc). There
are also individual overall men’s and women’s prizes.

The swim is organised jointly by Cork Masters Swimming Club and Cork Lions Club.
As many swimmers use the event to collect money for charity, the Organising Committee
urge you to consider donating part of the monies collected to Cork Lions Club. Cork
Lions Club will use funds generated from the event to support local charities.
